Brian Dunleavy comes to the North Woods to write a serious novel. Instead, he falls in love with a kitschy paper towel mascot.

Brian is at that point in his life where nothing feels as though it has substance.

The same grind

The same results

The occasional high among all the daily clutter

He is at a standstill.

So he does the most logical thing.

He uproots and relocates

This is where he finds Max, or Max finds him.

I guess it depends on what you believe.

This is their story and how they saved one another.

This was a big leap for me, regarding the writing style, but I am glad I took the chance.

As a reader, I might well have been Brian.

I wasn't sure at times what was real and what was crafted by my subconscious.

The sense of searching for something that is just out of reach

The belief in oneself

Finding (or crafting) a purpose

Possibilities.

Brian and Max’s story was an emotional coaster.

If you are looking for a straight fantasy romance, this is not it.

It's more outside-the-box, looking in, and seeing your true self once again
