Those eleven words arrived at my doorstep in a simple brown envelope, and the instructions inside were pretty simple:
Show up to court on time, swear to tell the truth on the stand, the end.
Or that's what I thought until I made it to New York.
A thief ran off with all my luggage at baggage claim, every single Uber driver canceled my pickup requests, and someone was following my every step.
I could feel it...
The law firm immediately decided I needed to be protected at all costs. Something about "fatal consequences" if I wasn't.
So, until this trial is over, I'm being forced to stay with the lead lawyer on the case: Caden Saint.
His last name has to be a joke from the universe, because I knew this man was the devil in disguise the moment he opened his mouth.
He insists on calling me "Miss Conflict of Interest" instead of my real name and refuses to look at me for more than twenty seconds at a time. And despite the fact that he's the sexiest man I've ever seen, every word that drops from his mouth makes me hate him even more.

So, I vowed to leave him before the case is over, before he can slide any deeper under my skin.
But he catches me mid-escape, and the words "conflict of interest" take on a far more sinful meaning...
