Shepherd's life was supposed to be simple, and short.

Then the FBI raided the cult compound he was raised and suddenly there was no one left to sacrifice him to his demonic spouse.

So much for destiny.

Luckily even the damned and the dead still need errands run, curses managed, and carnivorous plants pruned. These days Shepherd works for Renfield Concierge Services as a jack-of-all trades.

His latest gig is house‑sitting The Murder House, a necromancer's delight on the outskirts of Connecticut. All he has to do is keep out nosy teens, feed the books, and stop the coyotes, or next door's poodle, from digging up the "vegetable" garden. Easy enough.

Until the necromancer's "son" shows up with a death certificate, a notarized will, and a suspicious lack of knowledge about the supernatural world.

Now Shepherd has to honor his signed‑in‑blood contract without attracting the attention of any legal—or infernal—authorities who might still be interested in his cult‑related past. Because Hell loves a notarised document.

💭Our Thoughts

“The devil’s in the details Kel, and the devil loves a legal document”

This started a little on the WTF? side of my reading scale

A bit like walking into the middle of a movie, not sure what is going on, but it definitely caught your attention

It took me a few chapters and a bit of thinking outside the box, not to mention a whole lot of forgiveness (wait till you meet Kel), but once I let go and trusted the process?

Couldn't put it down!

This is definitely one of those reads that snowballs as it goes

So many little gotcha moments, “WTF” scenes, twists that rewrite everything you thought was happening and so much more

“It’s not in my best interests to make good choices right now”

The not so solid relationship between Kel and Shepherd was interesting(?). I don't know how else to describe them. It was definitely a leap of faith

The storyline kept me engaged and making all kinds of misinformed guesses as to the who’s and why’s

But the reveal??

Knocked it out of Hades!!

A solid cast that will steal your heart and ignite your anger at the same time

Shepherd was a blast!

Shithead left me with all kinds of the creepies, however, I think we could be friends 😎

Kel? Well, he is an interesting blend of bottom of the barrel and just needs a little bit of spit and polish. Don't give up on him.

Ruby brings her own definition to the term grandma

I am excited to see where this series takes our little band of misfits
