My rating: 4 of 5 stars

📖Book Info
She wants a home of her own.
He's vowed never to share his with anyone else.
Neither expected this battle.

All her life, Emily has had one dream—to leave her father’s home and live on her own terms. Her father has other plans. But when he crosses one of the most powerful men in England, King Henry II decides the best way to keep peace is to hand Emily over as a political hostage to Draven, Earl of Ravenswood.

This may be Emily’s only chance to find a life for herself outside of her father’s domain.

Draven has known no kindness. Bred to be a warrior, he has lived his life on the battlefield as a dedicated servant to the crown. He has sworn to Henry he will place no hand on Emily.

If only the lady would give him peace.

Instead, she pursues him relentlessly. And with every clash, Draven finds his resolve crumbling against a woman who refuses to see him as the monster he believes himself to be.

The Forsaken is a medieval romance for readers who love warriors who resist and women who refuse to let them.

💭Our Thoughts
I own the original version from 2016
And it’s still a grand adventure filled with suspenseful twists and turns and high-heat romance!

She’s feisty and determined.
He’s all doom and gloom.
Both are about to meet their match.

Someone is attacking Draven’s lands as well as Hugh’s (Emily’s dad)
Both are blaming each other and have come before the king to seek a resolution.
Only King Henry’s way of ensuring peace is naught what either expected.
A trade, if you will
He grants guardianship of Hugh’s precious youngest, Emily, to Draven for one year, thus ensuring Hugh’s compliance.
And has Draven swear upon the punishment of death to ensure his, as well as swearing to keep his hands off his new ward.
You all see where this is going.

Well written with wonderful characters that will steal your heart
Packed with humor
Banter
A stubborn ward - loved Emily’s persistence.
A broody Lord
A bit of mystery - loved the twist.
Some suspense (light)
The sweetest capitulation
And naturally, an HEA
