Book Recommendation ➱ The Lure (Maelstrom Duology) A dark, steamy post-apocalyptic romance by Cari Silverwood

The Lure The Lure by Cari Silverwood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

📖Book Info
Cyn
Having escaped from an alien ghoul lord, I fall from the skyscraper, and into the arms of an angel.

Except Vargr is no angel. I’m injured and stunned, and still I can’t help noticing his physique. Is it a sin to stare?
But something fogs my mind, urging me to return to my masters, and to their tentacles. The Lure.

With their pacified human herd, the aliens occupy a land of crumbling skyscrapers. Soon they’ll eat the last of us and suck down our bones.

To stop the Lure from obliterating my free will, Vargr claims me and makes me his. My small objections quickly vanish, especially when a horned soldier called Rutger joins him as my bed and battle mate.

The apocalypse is about to hit the fan and questions arise.

Did monsters give birth to the DNA inside us?
If we are to save humankind we need answers.

This is a dark romance with a kickass heroine and two alpha men to share in her glorious victories.

TWs can be found on Cari Silverwood's website, as well as a smaller list inside the book before the story begins.
Previously released as two Vargr and Rutger.

💭Our Thoughts
What an explosive start to the duet!

Silverwood blends dystopian, steampunk, sci-fi, and genetic engineering into a wildly diverse and entertaining universe that never fails to capture and entertain (and maybe kinda sorta stimulate 😉 )

"Here be more than darkness. The times were...macabre, yet one could not survive by defining in anger and turmoil, in musing of the coming end times, it would destroy you. "

Cyn is that heroine that we all love.
She kicks some serious arse when needs be
Is smart and witty, yet she still radiates a vulnerability that had me wanting to reach in and protect her.

She wakes to the mouth and tentacles of a Ghoul Lord with no recollection of how she got there but she does know, this whole tentacle sharp pointy teeth thing?
NOPE, not happening.

"This world was full of uncertainties. Worry when things landed in your lap, not before. "
And Cyn has reason to worry! Out of frying pan into the fire is almost an understatement

"No matter how big and strong one might be, feelings existed. Everyone hurt."
I'm quite upset with Varge at the moment as well as with Rutger - You two are idjiots!
Ownership comes with responsibilities and you two - fail!

I'm also worried about what the future holds for our little warrior.
I firmly stand with my belief that he overreacted! I get how he is viewing Cyn's actions but still - Pull your head out and take a moment to look at the whole picture -you big meanie!
Cyn did what came as instinct and everyone was so quick to judge and turn on her.

It is easier to destroy what we don't understand.
Yeah, I'm a bit mad, at Willow as well.

The journey for our little heroine only gets tougher both physically and emotionally as this story progresses.
Secrets are revealed that change the game and the enemy finds new ways to get smarter (this is awesome by the way!)
Things are taking a drastic turn for Cyn and not for the better.
I am eager to see what happens next

I do not want to give away anything because I am of the firm belief that even the littlest of scenes can be a game-changer for the reader.
That being said I can promise you lots of action - A lot of twists - mystery, and WTH moments
Some seriously hot smexy scenes -
Some angst-
Some drama - the good, the sad, some pretty fricking on the edge 'OMG' heart in my throat moments.

An engaging and fast-paced storyline that takes place in a fantastically crafted world that is packed with unique characters - One whom I like a whole lot, he is a rock-solid kind of guy (you'll get it when you meet him)

I see this series being one of my top favorites for this genre
