This is a full-length Holy Snicket hold on to your wig, high-heat MM fairytale romance that is packed full of suspense, betrayal, hope, greed, sacrifice, court politics, humor, twists, sword battles of all kinds ;) and the sweetest HEA

All of which we get to be a part of

- Not to spoil anything but this was one of the things I enjoyed about their story. Not only do we get to be a part of Emery and Gideon's tale from their POVs but we also get a chance to see how their destiny was crafted from the POVs of other major players.

You might want to hang on for those little reveals...

No PEEKING

Over all well-crafted story that kept me engaged with magnificent worldbuilding and vivid characters

"Giggling and blushing over a sham wedding when war was right at our doorstep was quite possibly the most idiotic thing we could be doing. But I couldn't help it. In the sea of darkness that was crashing with wave after wave against us, it was the single north star in the sky that gave me even the softest glimmer of hope."

The attraction between these two was so palpable.

Gideon grounded Emery and the lengths he was willing to go for him.

Maybe his reasons were slightly selfish still - My heart!

And Emery, he was so sweet and such fun. It was easy to understand how everyone was drawn to his quirky yet adorkable self.

The secondary and supporting characters are well-written and quickly had me loving or loathing them

And the surprise ending?

Can't wait for book two
