She hates me…
I’m going to make her fall in love with me anyway.
As captain of the SoCal Vipers, the last couple of seasons haven’t been going well. My stats are slipping, and I’m at risk of being traded.
So, I’m not in the mood for a case of mistaken identity with the woman playing bouncer at the arena door.
But when I find out she’s come to town to escape her controlling family and make a fresh start, I know I can’t just let her walk away.
I’ll do anything to make sure she’s safe.
And if that means claiming her forever…then all the better.
Because she’s mine.
Even if she doesn’t know it yet.
When the Game Breakers meet more than hearts will be broken…
They’ll claim, protect, and...maybe just rock their women's worlds.
💭Our Thoughts
"Slippery slope-I've jumped on and I'm careening to the bottom"
Aspen doesn't trust anyone who has that hanging appendage. Especially if they look to be "elite". She knows that with them everything is a trade
Banks doesn't have time for relationships, he is sticking to the quick-and-gone philosophy.
At least that was their plan...
"Maybe, but I'm a woman, and I'm busy, so I don't have the energy to pretend to like you"
The back and forth between these two.
Aspen kept that door shut tight (quite literally at times) but Banks wasn't one to give up
I admired Bank's determination—his ability to see past Aspen's defenses.
He almost walked away.
"I know, baby. But I'm here. If you'll just let me in"
Banks was so patient when it came to Aspen. Yes there were a couple of instances when he was about to give up on her, but he persisted and it paid off
Even when she didn't want his "help"
He went from never to forever
"...Some of me is tired of fighting"
It took Aspen a while before she admitted to herself that Banks was not the enemy but rather her happily ever after
The glimpse we do get of her sperm donor and Aspen's response was so satisfying
She was going to make it on her own - without being someone's pawn in a bid for more
Even if she wore herself into an early grave
"I know resisting the slippery slope was always a moot point."
I enjoyed getting to be inside both of their heads.
They each knew what they wanted. They each saw the truth it just took some time to get past those old wounds
Great cast of secondary and supporting characters
The elderly neighbor was a hoot
Highly recommend
