Book Info
I should not still be hung up on my high school girlfriend.

I’m a billionaire, with a penthouse in New York City, a private plane, and was recently crowned one of Manhattan’s most eligible bachelors.

She’s engaged to my rival. A real prick of a guy whose family is about as famous as mine. So, pictures of the happy couple are plastered everywhere, and it’s driving me insane.

The last time I spoke to her was my freshman year of college, and I never imagined I’d bump into her at a crowded restaurant in the busiest city in the world. But fate had other plans, and when I innocently suggest that the press wouldn’t bother with her wedding plans if she held it in our small Alaskan town where we grew up, I had no idea she’d take me seriously.

Now, I find myself helping her plan the wedding at my dad’s luxury resort while the town’s gossip app follows our every move, afraid that their golden boy will get his heart broken twice by the same girl.

But that’s impossible because she stole my heart when we were fifteen, and never gave it back.

💭Our Thoughts

"Sometimes you find the love of your life when you're young."

The Trouble with Runaway Brides is the third book in Piper Rayne's Lake Starlight series. It is a sweet, emotional, and slow-burn second chance romance between Kenzie and Lance.

Lance really wasn't thinking when he suggested Kenzie have her wedding in their hometown, it was just a slip of the tongue, a natural reaction. Heck, What were the chances she would think it was a great idea?
Turns out pretty high

These two were the It couple growing up.
But when it came time to leave for college Lance felt they should separate, not to be with other people but just in case -
a small town to a big city and all that jazz
Lance was right however and things happened
Now years later he is helping Kenzie marry a man who is not him
Helping Kenzie give her heart to another

Everyone in town can see the chemistry between these two
Always bickering like a married couple
Knowing the other's likes and dislikes inside and out
You would never get them to admit it though

Kenzie is afraid of getting hurt again, and Lance is worried that he'll never be good enough for Kenzie. But as they spend more time together, they start to realize that they can't deny their feelings for each other.

The Trouble with Runaway Brides is a beautifully written story about love, acceptance, and second chances.
Piper Rayne did an amazing job of developing the characters and creating a believable and heartwarming story full of humor, heart, and that right-below-the-surface tension, sweet as gumdrops, gotta have a HEA romance.
