Blurb:
There are many things that go bump in the night, and I am one of them.
I was born into power, and greatness was expected of me. When I discovered the truth behind
the throne and tried to expose it, however, I was thrown into Gehenna, better known as hell.
It’s a place for monsters who commit the most heinous crimes, there I am forced to adapt or
perish. No one expected that I would not only survive, but thrive, and then they arrive...
Five monsters come to ensure I truly died on the orders of the person who betrayed me.
Only we never expected a mate bond to slam us together as soon as we lock eyes.
Trapped and forced to fight this tightening connection, we have no choice but to work together
to break this pesky bond and finish our personal missions—theirs is for life, but mine is for
revenge. I will not stop until those who betrayed me pay. These mates can decide whose side
they are on. Personally, I don’t care. Nothing will get in my way, not even love.
I don’t need monsters to save me, because I am one.
Welcome to the Court of Fury, where revenge is all we know.
“May the blood flow free and plentiful, friend.”
I have to admit I was a bit hesitant going into this one.
I am not really big on Why Choose romances right now; so many recent reads have felt forced, with most of the relationships just sexual shock factor.
That was not the case here.
Were there smexy times that will melt your reader?
Why yes, there was.
But it felt like the moments should be happening as a natural result of the events
Not the best description, but that's why I am a reader and not a writer 🤷
I was hooked from the opening scene.
There were so many “edge-of-your-seat” moments with this ragtag gang
With the turn of each page, it was something new
Plenty of action and suspense, with crimson and spatter moments sprinkled in between
Heart-stopping revelations
The most vile of evil
High heat smexy
Banter and bickering
All wrapped in a slow to accept romance
“If it were death or you, we’d choose you. I wish this would end differently.”
They had one job.
Dispose of Ferol.
That was it. Not hard.
One measly girl against five trained monsters.
Spoiler alert - they failed 😛
“I was born from the ashes of suffering and pain, betrayed, lost, left behind, and crushed under the weight until a glittering diamond appeared.”
Probably one of my favourite lead female characters to date!
Ferol had quite literally been chewed up and spit out multiple times in her life
It seemed each day dropped a new hell at her doorstep
She had been betrayed by everyone.
Left to die on multiple occasions (That was their mistake. Assuming she would give up and fade away)
But she rose from the ashes stronger than ever and started taking names and plotting their demise
“Whatever happened, own it. It’s who you are, and don’t ever fucking apologise for it.”
This side of Ferol showed us who she was before she was tossed into Gehenna.
Despite the horrors her life had become, she still held so much kindness
I really enjoyed the dichotomy of her character.
The final moments of her revenge were absolute perfection
And the epilogue 💓
Some of my favorite moments/scenes
“It’s not about who I am, per se, but about the hand in the dark when you’re suffering, alone. You cling to it, no matter who it is.”
“We make our own paths, Bram. Wishing doesn’t change anything. It’s all about choices, and we both made our own.”
