RJ’s Adventures in Temecula is a must read for fans of Children’s books because it makes story time the start of a great adventure or the culmination of one, depending on where it falls in line, in a day in sunny Temecula, California.
RJ’s Adventures in Temecula is all about RJ, a curious boy who loves visiting new places. In the first book in this series of adventure travel books for children, RJ explores family-fun attractions throughout Temecula, a warm valley community surrounded by wineries.
His first trip is to a park with a huge lake, nestled in the middle of a community of families. People enjoy everything from fishing to boat paddling on any of the many sunny days. RJ then goes to huge community library to get some books for story time, for much later, because first there are new things to look at and eat in Old Town Temecula.
The Pennypickle’s Workshop is one of his favorites because he loves being able to touch and move the scientific gadgets. Then it is off to pick blueberries at the Temecula Berry Co.
His day is packed full of exciting new places, including visiting the Sugarplum (petting) Zoo and Chocolates farm. He especially liked the Zonkeys. Yes, that’s right, zonkeys.
The illustrations were based on photographs taken by a professional photographer from Temecula who followed me, Eva Legre, the author, around for a couple of weeks as they found family-friendly sites throughout the community. The vibrant colors of the roses at the Rose Haven Heritage Garden and fresh fruits from the Temecula Farmers’ Market pages jump out at you.
RJ is funny and full of energy, and he shares so much about each place that you feel like you are on a trip with him.

A resident of Temecula, California, known for its wineries, Mrs. Legre-Zigre was inspired by her own child to find and highlight family- and child-friendly attractions in her city. Some of these attractions are featured in her debut book.
