Bound by destiny, torn by fate—their love stood unbroken, victorious over all.

Kat MacArthur still feels the loss of her brother to another time. Seeking solace, she stumbles upon Ceallach, a Fae warrior, she’s had feelings for ever since she met him. The emotion grows stronger whenever they are together. Yet he warns her to stay away from the upcoming gathering for the Iona Stones. Kat refuses—she needs to be there to help her family and Ceallach.

Ceallach is torn between duty, magic, and the ache for mortal love. His Fae soul is sworn to protect the Iona Stones during the Gathering, but his heart is lost to Kat. With the prophecy looming, he cannot promise her forever—no matter how much he longs to. The maiden of the Iona Stones now faces sacrifice, and he fears if his beloved gets too close, he cannot save her.

When dark forces rise to take the Iona Stones along with their powers, Ceallach is forced into an impossible decision—to defy destiny or surrender to love?

EXCERPT

She shoved past him. “I’d appreciate it if ye didn’t go reading my mind without permission. That’s an invasion of privacy.” She walked on toward the square and the center of Dunbeg. “Plus, I thought ye Fae couldn’t read everyone’s thoughts, only the weakminded.” She turned to him as he strolled beside her. “At least that’s what Ewan, Evie, and Aodhán tell me. Neither of them has been able to read my mind.”

Stopping, she placed her hands on her hips, and he bent his head, hiding a grin. “My powers differ.” He glanced to the side. “Sometimes I wish I could turn them off, but the best I can do is muffle them.” He took her hand in his, patting the back. “For ye, Kat, I will try to respect yer privacy.”

She returned his smile. “Thank ye.” She turned to cross the street. “Now up here…”

Ceallach yanked her back into his arms as a car whizzed past where she’d tried to step out.

Kat tightly gripped his shoulders. “That car. Did ye see it coming?”

His arms tightened, the steady press of his body telling her she wasn’t going anywhere. “Something like that.” Kat froze. She’d dreamed of being held in his arms like this. Her petite frame pressed and held against his broad chest. The feeling was like she had imagined— exciting and comforting, all-consuming of her senses. Their gazes connected. Close like this, his bright blue eyes had flecks of silver, making them glisten. She would be foolish to think he returned her affections.

The Gathering of the Stone Guardians: Bringing Seven Love Stories into One Room

By the time I began writing Stone of Destiny, I carried seven love stories in my hands.

Each Iona Stone—Love, Fear, Lust, Hope, Doubt, Faith, and finally Destiny—anchors a couple whose journey unfolded across time, sacrifice, and magic. I always knew the series would culminate in the Gathering of the Stone Guardians. From the first book, I seeded that promise: one day, every guardian and every maiden would stand together.

What I did not fully grasp at the beginning was the structural weight of that moment.

Bringing seven established couples into a single narrative space required more than nostalgia. It demanded orchestration. Every pair carried emotional history, inside jokes, private wounds, and hard-won triumphs. Readers remembered those moments intimately. I had to honor them without allowing the reunion energy to eclipse Kat and Ceallach’s story—the heart of Stone of Destiny.

The challenge became one of balance.

Each couple needed a moment that felt authentic to their journey. Colin and Bree carried the fierce devotion of Love. Marie and John embodied the courage forged through Fear. Ainslie and Rannick burned with Lust’s intensity. Moira and Dom held Hope steady. Evie and her guardian wrestled through Doubt. Seren and Dameon stood shaped by Faith. Their presence could not read like a cameo. It had to feel earned.

Continuity mattered at a granular level—dialogue rhythms, emotional callbacks, the way one character stood slightly closer to another, a glance across a room that carried years of shared memory. I revisited earlier books to ensure every reference aligned with what already existed on the page. I allowed no invented nostalgia, no manufactured sentiment—only threads I had already woven.

At the same time, I had to guard the narrative center.

Kat and Ceallach faced the final test of Destiny. Their emotional stakes rose higher, cut sharper, and felt more fragile. The Gathering heightened that tension rather than softening it. Watching other couples stand secure in their bonds forced Kat to confront what she might lose. The room became both a celebration and a crucible.

Structurally, I approached the Gathering like choreography. Emotional beats rise and fall. One couple steps forward, another withdraws—energy shifts without fracturing the throughline. Every interaction serves a purpose—either reinforcing the magic of the Stones or tightening the pressure around Kat’s choice.

When readers step into that room, I want them to feel the weight of seven books converging. I want them to sense the architecture behind the emotion without seeing the scaffolding.

That is the quiet work of saga-building.

The Gathering does not simply reunite characters. It proves that every love story mattered—and that Destiny stands strongest when supported by the echoes of all that came before.
