I was positive that there was no way in the seven levels of Hades that I would ever forgive Rubén or even slightly like him.

Yet...

Somehow, by the end of their story, he was very much the villain who deserved his happily ever after

This is a cartel romance, and it contains all the chest puffing and crimson moments that you would expect.

A villain who will keep you on your toes

A strong, stubborn heroine who isn't afraid to fight back

A stomach-turning ex, but do not worry, there is no otw drama, it's all in her mind

A secret - a few actually, some I saw coming, others not so much

And through it all

A steamy second chance romance that will have your heart pumping

Drina was snatched up by traffickers and forced into labor for a cartel. She hadn't given up hope, but she knew her days were numbered if she didnt find a way out.

Then one day, like a miracle, her past collided with her present

But did she trade one prison for another?

Ruben starts out a horse's backside.

I am serious, I couldn't even like him, and I love a good morally grey villain.

Somehow, though, our feisty Drina was able to see past his darker side.

I think she even had a bit of her own thirst for revenge.

The constant tension between these two bled off the pages

She was his perfect queen even if he didnt see it right away

There were a couple of scenes that I would have liked expanded on, just me being a bit greedy.

I did go back and grab book one in Kobo ...

Highly recommend for those who enjoy slightly darker romances that induce book hangovers
