Anger was building deep in my chest. I’d had enough of these two and their bullying. Becky had never apologized for sending me into the swamp. And Spiky was just a miniature Becky. I needed to get rid of them so I could finish up with Nick.

“This is supposed to be a solo,” I stepped forward. “Do you need a vocab lesson?”

Becky turned, eyes flashing. Her blond frizz puffed out like cotton candy around her head. “You know what, Jamison? I’m sick of your lousy attitude. You should have been sent home day one, but somehow you managed to sweet-talk Hayden and the others into thinking you were special.”

“I’ve earned my right to be here, just like you. Get over it.”

Spiky gestured to my shelter. “That’s totally lame. I built a lean-to with a downwind entrance and a fire pit. I even caught a squirrel for dinner.”

We weren’t supposed to build fires or hunt wildlife, but Spiky just had to show off. “It’s not part of this challenge,” I said.

“It’s not part of this challenge,” Spiky mimicked. “You’re such a whiner. What would your Geekit boyfriend think right now?”

It was one thing to taunt me, but Eric was off-limits. “What do you want, Barbie doll?” I strode toward her. “Why do I make you feel so threatened? Is it because I know you’re a rich bitch fraud?”

Spiky’s face flushed.

Becky held up a hand. “Time to pay your dues.” She reached behind her and pulled a black baton from her waistband.
