BLURB:

With Grand Protector Faust missing and Caesar dead, Senator Frigus is trying to hold the fraying threads of the Empire together by keeping this information secret. The Empire is already fragile, and if the truth spills onto the streets of Rome and beyond, the Empire could crumble.

Faust is prisoner of the giant Bjorn Askå and his cellmate is the rebel leader, Boatman King. Abducted by Askå, they’re now part of his grand plan to rule the entire world, with the Empire his next target. Can Faust and Boatman forge an alliance or are their own ambitions stronger than any desire for a truce?

A continent away, Bella, Maverick and the other rebels have escaped to the RIA where they lick their wounds from the disaster of Faust and Askå’s attack on their underground headquarters. They believe they have covered their tracks and hope the 35, leaders of the RIA, will equip them to take the fight to Rome again, this time with the advantage of surprise.

Olivia King, though, she is tired of the fight. Traumatised from being tortured at the hands of Maximus Nero and conflicted about her husband’s relentless desire to crush Rome, she is unsure whether she has the energy to keep fighting those who have caused her so much pain.

With the world and its people in turmoil, one thing is for certain: chaos remains in a world needing redemption.

EXCERPT

Maverick was told that the fight was a global spectacle, so to ensure it stayed that way and to go easy on Francesco, to prolong the fight and therefore the coverage, Maverick was also reminded that the man he was fighting was an amateur and under no circumstances was he to kill him. Maverick thought about how he had been dragged from his family home to become a gladiator, tortured by one of the most deprived men in existence in the hellscape of Aestii and then paraded around the world like an object. He decided the powers that be could go fuck themselves and he would fight as he wanted to. For poor Francesco, that was a mixed outcome. The negative was that within thirty seconds of trying to show off his newly acquired sword skills he was skewered with Maverick’s, but the positive was that he died so quickly he didn’t feel any disappointment in his debut gladiator performance.

Marcus had watched in horror as his dad was butchered, and he nurtured that horror for years and years so that it became pure hatred for the man that murdered his father.

GUEST POST:

The Path of Redemption is, I believe, the best book I have ever written. It’s the conclusion to the trilogy I have

been writing over the past three to four years and it’s, essentially, a culmination of all my dreams of becoming

a published writer.

When I was a child, around twelve, I remember being at a ‘Parents’ Evening’ at my school. It was an evening

where you take your parents to school and visit teachers and those teachers give a breakdown of how well or

badly you’re doing at school. At the meeting with my English teacher he praised my passion for writing and

my vast imagination. I remember it still because I was so proud of his words and how much encouragement

he gave. At that moment I knew I wanted to be a writer and find an avenue for people everywhere to read my

stories. More than thirty years later that aspiration has become reality.

It’s been stepping stones for me, not an avalanche of dreams. I was stunned when my publisher (Cinnabar Moth)

offered me a contract to write three books. I was humbled because I has been trying for so many years to find

a publisher who would take a chance with me. Then it happened. As a writer you hope that when you are

published you will hit the sweet spot and storm into being a bestselling author, but more than likely,

the publishing contract is the first step in a marathon of getting your story out there.

I thought I would feel a sense of contentment and closure once I saw my books published and out there

in the world. I always remember saying to people that as soon as I saw my books on a shelf in a bookstore

then I would feel like I had completed the writing dream. I now realise that’s not true. I am overwhelmed

by the fact my books are available around the world, but my next dream (the stepping stone) is to see as many

people access my stories as possible. Being as proud as I am of what I have written I now want everyone to read it.

Who knows?
