Thatcher
There was a silent warning in Sebastianโs eyes when I briefly glanced at him before reaching Capri. The devastation on her face was going to result in a death. I just didnโt know whose yet.
โYou need to tell me something, brother?โ I asked him, a lethal warning laced in my tone. He recognized it but didnโt flinch like most men would.
โThis is a conversation for you and Capri,โ he said gravely.
My eyes were locked on her. Studying her closely. The demon inside me slowly morphing into a legion. This wasnโt okay. Someone had hurt her, and I didnโt allow that. Who was foolish enough to make that error? Was it the new exercise trainer?
She reached up and wiped at the tear rolling down her cheek. My skin felt tight as if it couldnโt contain the rage ready to burst free.
โWho, little doll?โ My voice was closer to that of a monster than a man, but it didnโt frighten her.
Those eyes that made me believe I may have a soul stared up at me. I could hear the blood swooshing in my veins as it simmered. My sanity was snapping.
โCapri, youโve got to say something before he goes on a killing spree,โ Sebastian told her.
She blinked her eyes, shifting to him and then back to me. The pink tip of her tongue darted out, wetting the lips I worshiped like many did a god. She was my higher power.
โI,โ her voice soft and unsure. I was wrong. Someone wouldnโt die. There would be several.
I inhaled sharply through my nose, taking a step closer to her and reaching out to touch her face. She was afraid to tell me. I could see it there now. Who was she protecting?
โTell me,โ I urged.
She swallowed hard, and I ran my hand to her neck to feel it move.
โWe need to talk about some things youโve done. For me. Things,โ she paused as pain sliced through her expression. โThings you did because of me.โ
This was about me. What did she know? Better yet, who had told her?
โWho?โ I bit out through clenched teeth.
โThatโs not,โ my brother started to say, and I swung my gaze to his, silencing him.
โYou can go,โ I told him.
He looked back at Capri with clear concern, but I knew it wasnโt for her. He feared my wrath for whoever had spoken to her. Told her things she should never hear.
Blurb:
From the moment those grey eyes the color of the water just before sunrise met mine, Iโd acted without thought to the consequences to protect her. I had been her vengeance on any and all who would cause her pain without her even realizing it. If only it had stayed that way. The things Iโd done because the demons inside me couldnโt stand the thought of her being wronged even the slightest were meant to be kept secret. She was too pure for the evil I was capable of unleashing.
Our story began with my immediate infatuation. Lies, deception, obsession, and undying devotion made it as complex as a Shakespearean tale. Unlike the characters in Williamโs story, not even death could have kept me from her.
And it would end with her by my side, in my bed, no matter what lengths I had to go to in order to keep her. My reason for being had begun rotating around my little doll long before I even realized the power she held over me.
