Book Review: Villain an enemies to lovers college romance by New York Times bestselling author Natasha Preston

Villain Villain by Natasha Preston
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Blurb
The first time I met Casper Hart, I turned him down despite his good looks and obvious charm. I’d only just arrived at university, and a man like him was the last thing I needed to make me lose focus.

The only problem? I had no idea who the hell he was. Rich, entitled, hot, and arrogant, no one walked away from Casper without paying a high price.

Unfortunately for him, he’d chosen the wrong girl to pick a fight with.

Unfortunately for me… Casper happened to live right next door, and he didn’t let up easily.

Three years of endless torture later, it’s no secret to anyone that Casper and I share nothing but hate towards each other, going out of our way to cause as much pain and annoyance to the other as possible. But when a series of break-ins break out on campus, and my friends are all otherwise occupied, Casper ends up being the only person I can call upon to help me get out of a nasty situation.

The only question now is at what cost? Because nothing Casper ever does for me comes free, and despite everyone else seeing him as the superhero, I know the truth.

He’s nothing but a rotten Villain. One I can’t seem to stay away from no matter how hard I try.

My Thoughts
Ainsley just can't swallow Casper being anywhere near her air space. After their first encounter, she has placed him firmly in the ego so big he can't see his feet category.
She also dislikes the way his scent, when he stands too close, stimulates her erogenous zones. Or how his eyes seem to see right through her to the past she is hiding.
She tries to avoid him but it isn't easy:
A - he lives next door
B- she is now working for his parents
C- he is the only person who can help her

This is a new adult enemy to lovers (more a miscommunication to understanding) light suspense romance
The story is told from Ainsley's POV - Casper does get a bit at the end. For me, I believe I would have had a better connection or maybe more patience with Ainsley if Casper had a voice.
I had a bit of trouble with Ainsley - Her behavior and attitude were beyond infantile at times. Casper really hadn't done anything to deserve it IMO.
Casper on the other hand was a saint - he was so patient with Ainsley's constant remarks. Even though he didn't have a voice I could tell by the body clues some of his thoughts.
Off my rant back to the story
The first few chapters were a bit slow but once the story picks up and they spend more time together I became invested in their outcome. There is a lot of back-and-forth banter along with a great deal of miscommunication. Casper tries so hard to get through to Ainsley but her walls are so high up. I did enjoy Casper finding ways to knock it down brick by brick.
I do wish we got more from Casper.
