“... this is not my typical genre that I enjoy reading. Fantastic is an understatement!!!!" ★★★★★ Regina (Goodreads)
Mara Hallewell, an eighteen-year old abused and lonely witch, is blessed, or cursed in her mind, with the gift of sight. But she is blindsided when it comes to matters of her own heart. She doesn't see him coming, but when she meets Alaric Stone, her life becomes an adventure as she embarks on a mission to fight fate's fatal plan.
Alaric Stone, a handsome twenty-year-old human and wolf whisperer, with his own checkered past is honest and intriguing to Mara. She has been taught her entire life to fear the humans after the Witch Trials forced the witches into hiding. However, as she falls in love with him and the intriguing wolves he protects, she discovers more than she could ever imagine.
Can she save the people that she has learned to love? Or will she not realize how strong she is and fail the only people she has ever cared for?
I was gripping my Kindle right from the opening with this one
Mara has more strength and gumption in her pinky than most heroines
Her mom passed away giving her birth and her coven - especially her sperm donor - blame her
Turns out they believe that those who commit murder are punished with the gift of sight which Mara conveniently has
On Mara's 18th birthday, she is aided by an elder coven member who also happens to secretly bear the same gift as her.
She is told to run to the woods and spend the night hidden in the forest.
Naturally, things get even worse for our young heroine.
But don't worry this is where she meets the human Alaric, his companion, and his wolves
Mara's life soon takes an unexpected turn and she soon finds herself self on a quest to uncover the truth. Along the way, she must navigate treacherous alliances, dangerous enemies, and the secrets that surround her birthright.
Not to mention her feelings for Alaric
This was a fast-paced, high-suspense, fantasy, romance with unique and creative world-building that gave me the total immersive experience - I was there -
Good job of balancing action and romance.
Plenty of exciting scenes that had me holding my breath, twists that had me screeching out loud (no seriously I yelled at the cast a couple times), angst, and steam and solid character development
Not to mention the relationship between our two MCs.
This was packed with a secondary cast of compelling characters who brought their own unique flavor to the story.
Each character was uniquely distinct and contributed something to the plot's twists and turns.
Yes some were an instant love them or loathe them
The world-building was detailed and immersive.
The author did a good job of creating a believable world that felt like it could exist.
There were some slower moments and some scenes or events that left me with questions -
but this is the first in the series so there is a lot of world-building going on here and I know my questions will be answered soon
I am just impatient like that
Lorelie Weston was born in a small village of normal folks who couldn't see the magic that surrounded their very existence. Lorelie learned from a young age that dragons, werewolves, and witches were much less terrifying than the reality of the human race, therefore she chose to make it her mission to tell their stories! Lorelie is the keeper of secrets, the light in the darkest of nights, and the tamer or the wild ones. Her mind holds a million stories that she wants to share with the world!
