Can you, for those who don't know you already, tell something about yourself and how you became an author?
I started writing in January 2022 after joining the Facebook group of one of favourite authors TL Swan. I felt completely inspired and started drafting Loving Dr Jones that month. I’d never dreamed of writing a book before then, but I’ve found a passion I never knew I had. In May 2022, I was offered a publishing contract by Extasy Books in Canada. Now, I have two novels published and another three in process. I’ve ended up on a brand new career path, I never envisaged.
What is something unique/quirky about you?
I’m Scottish but live in rural Spain with my husband and young daughter. We have an ever growing animal family including dogs, horses, goats, chickens, ducks, geese and peacocks.
Tell us something really interesting that's happened to you!
From a young child for over 20 years I competed in horse showing competitions all over the UK. My weekends were spent in a horsebox or a wet field! But it was a lot of fun!
What are some of your pet peeves?
When my husband leaves wet towels on the bed…..grrr.
Where were you born/grew up at?
Ayrshire in Scotland
Who is your hero and why?
TL Swan, without finding her books and joining her incredible writer’s community I would never have attempted to write a book. Let alone the four I’ve written since January this year. She is an incredible woman, who has chased her dreams and succeeded spectacularly.
What kind of world ruler would you be?
A hopeless one. I’d be a complete walkover and try and keep everyone happy. I’m much happier living in fantasy land with my characters.
What are you passionate about these days?
Writing, my family and I love to eat out
How to find time to write as a parent?
I write at night or when my daughter is at school. I’m lucky to have a very supportive husband.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I’m not even sure I do. I feel as though I’ve ended up on this career path completely unplanned. Never when I started typing was the thoughts of publishing on my mind.
Do you have a favorite movie?
It changes daily. But I love Topgun, Titanic, Me before you, Dirty Dancing….you get the idea.

VR Tennent emigrated from Scotland to Spain in 2020. She lives in the Spanish campo with her husband, young daughter, and ever-growing animal family.
In January 2022, she decided to put pen to paper and write a book after joining the writer’s group of her favourite author. Five months later she was offered a publishing contract on that very book.
