Yes, I jumped into the middle of this series without reading the previous books - Not sure how as I enjoy Twombly's writing style and own a lot of her work.
Despite not having read the previous books I had no problem following along and understanding the backstories - you know I will be going back to the beginning because this was filled with twists, OMG moments, smexy moments, and an outstanding cast of supporting characters

Did not want to close that final page and say goodbye
The world-building was so vivid and the story just flowed from the pages

You can rest assured I will be rectifying that blunder at once
This is one of the reasons I am so fond of the 1001 Dark Night Novellas
I always seem to find new authors and/or series

The storyline jumps from now to then and back again and at times in between the past and the present (don't try to rationalize)
There are lots of crimson splatters
Some spine-tingling Holy Hades moments
Betrayals and twists you don't see until it's too late
This is for those who bathe in the deep end of the dark and slightly deranged genre pool
