I had read the first book previously but never had the chance to finish the trilogy
We get to return to the city
We get to see what is up with Hades and Persephone
The insanity (maybe, maybe not) that is Demetri
We get a peek at what may be up with Posiden
This series, for me, reads a bit like abstract
All the pieces are there but they don't click in place until the finale
I don't know how to properly explain it though obviously, I will try
I didn't connect emotionally like I normally do -
It was as though I was standing outside looking in through the glass
I was still invested in what happened next -
Completely enthralled by the broken characters (and they are broken)
By the darkness that passes as acceptable - the norm in the city
This is a dark and twisted journey for both of our main characters
The world-building pushes the borders a bit into fantastical possibilities -
blending seamlessly with the storyline to make it possible
All the twists and turns and white knuckle moments you expect
highlighted with the darker desires of mankind
Heed the "trigger warnings" don't blindly jump -
there is no shallow end of the dark pool here
