My Lucky #13 (Hockey Hotties, #1)My Lucky #13 by Piper Rayne
Description:
Lucky.
The one adjective used to describe my entire hockey career. I prefer to call it hard work, at least I did until my game went to complete crap. I haven’t scored in eight games and my team owner is talking about trading me.
I’ve never believed in superstitions. Never needed one. I suppose I was “lucky” in that way. But now the best way to refer to me is desperate. I’d wear the same socks for an entire year just to be the high-scoring center I used to be.
Imagine my surprise when after spending New Year’s Eve with a woman, I score a hat trick in the next game—that’s three goals in one game for you non-hockey lovers. Now, I have to track her down and bribe her to do it again before every game. Get your mind out of the gutter, I’m not talking about it.
I find her and when I get to know her better, I end up spending more time thinking about her than my game, but she’s made it clear she wants no part of me. She’s going to learn that I didn’t become a professional hockey player without having to fight for what I want.
Our Thoughts 💭:
"Every day for the rest of my life"
*sigh * (I'm grinning from ear to ear at the moment)
Aiden and Saige brought all the feels 🥰 and warm fuzzies
Aiden is so laid back despite being a sports icon. He has this good old boy vibe to him - He doesn't put himself above others. He has a heart of gold. He is a romantic at heart.
Saige is ... not really a pessimist but she puts a lot of energy into preventing the inevitable
It was fun to watch her slow capitulation
These two were so good together
If you want a light-hearted romance that will have you smiling and experience multiple 'melt your heart' moments this is definitely it 💖
I want Tedi's story she was such a blast

Green Goo Goblin (Jas Bond #1)Green Goo Goblin by Gretchen S.B.
Description:
My life is one giant cycle of group deniability…
As a magic-less son of a witch owning a store full magical objects isn’t easy. But with my unhelpful rottweiler Bailey and a handful of supernatural staff, we’ve sold everything from elfin wedding china to a life-size dwarven statue we don’t like to talk about. Everything is going smoothly until a goblin customer starts coughing up a disgusting green goo. Little did I know as I watch that liquid spew from his mouth that his presence and that goo was going to send my life into a tailspin, leaving me in the cross-hairs of a murder.
Check out the goblin and the goo he produces in Green Goo Goblin.
Our Thoughts 💭:
A short but fun read that is the perfect length for a poolside, lunch, or whenever read
Green Goo Goblin is a short story and the first in the series.
It introduces us to the cast while also providing a bit of mystery and mayhem
Jas is a nonmagic magical store owner - a bit of a tongue twister -
In a world of supernaturals, he collects and protects magical items - He is both their guardian as well as their curator
Sven, a nonsocial dwarf (that is a polite way of putting it), acts as the "repair" side of Jas' shop
The author has crafted a fun and unique universe that melds fantasy with mystery
Each new book presents a mystery in the supernatural community that somehow ends up with Jas smack dab in the middle
This feels a bit like a cozy mystery the way it reads - lots of action and little twists and turns - a blend of personalities that offer everything from the comic relief to the OCD
All brought together in a well-crafted universe

RotanevRotanev by Lexi C. Foss
Description:
Kailiani Mikos
My life is a mess.
One minute, I’m on my way to graduating, and the next, I find out my mother handed me over as collateral to a loan shark.
Now I’m standing inside a fancy hotel suite in a tiny little dress, auditioning to become an escort for Jasmine Black Incorporated.
That’s when I see him. God in a suit. Ocean-blue eyes. Dark, wavy hair. All sensual lines and hard masculinity.
Nero Rotanev.
He sets my blood on fire with a single glance. So when he asks if I will kneel for him, I eagerly agree.
Only something isn’t right here.
I feel as though I’ve known him for eternity.
Except that’s impossible, right?
Who are you really, Mister Rotanev?
And why have you chosen me?
Nero Rotanev
Mortals call me Poseidon. Neptune. God.
Kailiani was meant to call me her soul mate. Ah, but my darling little siren disappeared before I could claim her. And I’ve been hunting her ever since.
However, my scouts have finally found her in the Human Realm.
Hiding among the mortals.
How quaint.
That won’t stop me from destroying her. My sweet siren is going to crawl and beg for my mercy. Oh, but I can’t wait to watch her bleed.
Kailiani will pay for her sins.
And the wrath of the seas will drown her for eternity.
Prepare to kneel, little one.
For no one can outswim me.
Not even a sweet little siren created by the stars.
Author’s Note: Rotanev is a 34k word standalone paranormal romance featuring a furious Poseidon and his runaway siren. It’s a contemporary tale twisted with mythology and dark fantasy undertones
Our Thoughts 💭:
"Then prepare to scream, darling siren. Because I've longed to hear you sing my name from our bed"
Nero was looking to even the score
Punish the siren who left him standing high and dry at his own wedding
- not a good look for a sea god
He finally had her in his grasp and he intended to ensure she felt his wrath
Oh, she was good -
Playing the innocent game
He almost believed her
But he wouldn't fall for it a second time
Time to pay up little siren
This was like an appetizer that served up a little of everything and left you sated but desiring so much more!
More Mythios
More Nero
More Mesophtolis
A fast-paced fantasy novella packed with
Sexy dominant gods
Hot 🔥 as hades chemistry
Vengeful lesser gods who are quite the tricksters 😏

Maleficium: Duo (Devil's Playground #2)Maleficium: Duo by Natalie Bennett
Description:
Tragic and Twisted Fall Apart…
Ave Satanas worship or perish.
The reckoning has begun.
In the Devil’s Playground morals have vanished, demons run rampant, and the death toll is rising.
The price of freedom looms closer than before, simply crown the king, claim a queen, and make idle work of the damned.
One will perish.
Bounties will be placed.
The devil wants his due, and one little Serpine is exactly who he’s been waiting for.
The puppet dances as long as her strings are pulled.
Our Thoughts 💭:
Please ensure your hands and feet (and head) are inside at all times
Lock and Load and Hang on tight
Welcome to the Devil's Playground
Ride the crimson river, play in the funhouse
Whatever you do ...
Don't trust anyone
This was heavy on the trials and the suspense -
Liliana is the spotlight character IMO and the way this was written I felt like I was fighting for my own life as well
This is lighter on the romance which was fine by me - it laid out more trails for the reader to follow - small hints as to the past and what brought this nightmare to our doorstep
This ends on a cliffy
I truly enjoyed the blend of horror and dystopian fantasy that Bennett weaves with this series. Strong characters who complement each other. A storyline that keeps the reader on edge and feeling like the answers are just out of their grasp (a bit like the characters feel ) Looking forward to seeing how twisted this gets

Colton's SecretColton's Secret by A.C. Kramer
Description:
Not all dreams have a happy ending.
A truth I learned the hard way.
All thanks to Colton Kinsley.
When Stonewall University offered me a full-ride scholarship and a coveted spot in their esteemed swimming program, it was an immediate yes. Why?
Because of Colton Kinsley.
Swimming god.
A legend.
The ultimate idol.
It didn’t matter that he’d since graduated from the program. He was still training in the same pool, preparing for next year’s Olympic Games.
And I intended to go with him.
But his family had other plans for me.
My first day of winter semester practice ended in a nightmare. A pledge. A future I had no desire to entertain. And Colton Kinsley became so much more than a mere idol. He became my mentor for the Scorpio Society.
Now there’s no escape.
No alternatives.
No way out.
This is the world of the elite.
To remain, I must obey.
To live, I need to win.
Suit up. It’s going to be a long swim.
Our Thoughts 💭:
More!!!!
I wasn't sure what to expect when I read the blurb
I figured new adult with a little edge maybe?
What I got was a taste of the unknown, a tang of darkness, and the slightest note of possibility
A secret society that offers their chosen "pledge" the world in exchange for proving they have the drive and dedication to excel and be the best
Only like all "seems too good to be true" offers - there is a catch
An alpha'ish (hard to explain but you'll get it when you meet him) Olympic medal swimmer and spare heir who's been assigned to "tame" and prepare the newest sacrifice, sorry recruit
A freshman hopeful Olympian swimmer who has her eyes on the prize -
Most of the time -
She also enjoys the occasional party, cooking, and economics
Oh, and did I mention she was just a bit stubborn?
Colton starts out his introduction to Emma on every wrong foot possible. And like any independent woman, she isn't making it easy on him to repair her first impression of him
Not to mention this whole secret society thing sounds just a little too corny and the price, if she fails, is just a bit too steep
This was the prequel to Colton's Legacy and it more than served its purpose -
I did not want to close the pages on these two -
The chemistry between them
The back and forth
I am eagerly awaiting this series

Security Binds Her (Thalia, #1)Security Binds Her by Jennifer Bene
Description:
“I’ll break you down. It may take time, but I will.”
“And if I don’t break?”
“You will.”
Taken from work one night, Thalia is thrust into the violent, controlling world of a man she thought had been the security guard for her building, but she quickly learns that this was only a cover to get to her, to take her. As her old life is erased, the guard pushes Thalia to recognize the darker sides of herself, while Thalia endeavors to hold on to who she is.
Trapped alone with her abductor, can Thalia fight to retain her self, or will his small glimpses of kindness cause her to finally submit to him?
‘Security Binds Her’ is a brutal journey that leaves readers breathless and waiting to turn the page to find out if Thalia will break, or be lost forever to the darkness around her.
**WARNING: This book contains graphic punishments, disturbing situations, scenes of dubious consent, and very strong language. Intended for mature audiences.
Our Thoughts 💭:
Do you know that saying that you can't truly appreciate the good without knowing the bad? Or something to that line of thought. That is Thalia's story.
There is no sugar coating here
No alarm clock to rouse her from the nightmare
She will face her most primitive Id
Her physical strength will be challenged
Her emotional stability crushed and rebuilt
She will learn to bend to the monsters if only to prevent her from breaking
She will eventually come to a crossroads where she must choose between the evil she knows and the one who promises salvation
This is not for the weak of heart
It is raw
It is a dive into the deep end of the darkness pool
Heed the warnings
I'll see you on the other side
I'm off to book two - I have to know
