“Are you calling me a liar?”
Hook is close. So close that I can smell the whisky on his breath, reminding me of the night that we met. But I’ll be damned if I give in to the temptation of Hook again. Not when there’s so much on the line.
I let out a small laugh. “It really bothers you, doesn’t it?”
His gaze goes to my lips, and heat shoots straight to my core.
“What’s that?”
“That I don’t want you.”
“Ah, my darling Amelia, you say that, but your body says otherwise.”
I hate that he’s right. I do want him. I want more of the passion we shared that night after we left Di Bello’s bar. But I will never sleep with him again. Not while he holds me captive. And not while I can’t trust myself around him.
Leaning forward, I say, “You’re right. My body reacts this way because I want someone. Want to know who it is?”
He nods, daring me to speak. If I were wise, I’d shut up. But poking him gives me a thrill, and I’m not about to back down.
“I want your men, Hook. Everyone but you.”
